Hot & Spicy Wings

Do you remember the last time you ate plain chicken wings? Did they taste of anything? Do you remember cautiously picking up a boring wing before immediately regretting it? Put these disappointing memories behind you with some unforgettable Hot and Spicy Wings.

Just take them out of the freezer whenever you want a quick spice burst. Hey presto, you’ll have a tasty snack or filling meal in minutes. Here are a few sides and sauces that will make your wings extra delicious.

Cool your wings down with some stickily sumptuous syrup

Are you slightly nervous about trying hot and spicy wings? Do you like a bit of spice, but you’re not sure how much you can manage over dinner? Glazing your wings in maple syrup is a great way to get a perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavours. Just boil some maple syrup and butter in a pan for 5 minutes and then pour over your cooked wings. Then serve and enjoy bite after bite of crispy sweetness.

Why not wrap your wings in pancakes to soak up all that lovely sauce? If you’re wings still aren’t sweet enough, try cooling your taste buds down with some minty frozen yoghurt.

Get some Jalapeño energy in your life

Fancy a bit more spice? Jalapeños are perfect for family dinners.

With a Scoville rating of only 3,000-8,000, they’ll give your wings a kick without burning your taste buds. Scoville ratings were brought in in measure the spiciness of chillies. They’re there to help the kids enjoy spices safely.

A tasty Jalapeño sauce for your wings is really easy to prepare. Cut your peppers into very fine strips, and then put them through a mince. Then heat up some butter and garlic in a pan. Stir for about 2 minutes and add your minced Jalapeños, a tablespoon of brown sugar, and generous amounts of ketchup and hot sauce. Simmer for about 5 minutes. When you’ve cooked your defrosted wings, toss them in your sauce and enjoy.

For some people, this sauce isn’t spicy enough (even with extra chillies on the side). If this is you, then our next sauce will be your wings’ new home.

Enjoy a taste of Thailand

At up to 100,000 Scoville Units, these peppers are for experienced chilli fans only. You can add some Thai green curry paste to your dish, pour in a ready-made bottle of the sauce or mince these world-famous chillies before throwing them into a pan.

Making it yourself? Prepare a sauce for your wings just like the Jalapeño fans do – but with one crucial difference.

The Thai twist lets you experiment with a whole range of Asian spices. Coriander, cumin and turmeric will give your taste buds an evening away in a wonderful resort.

Whether you’re enjoying your wings in Wolverhampton or Bangkok, they taste oh so good with a Thai green curry sauce. Why not serve with some banana slices to balance out the flavours with an authentic touch?
